Non-Disability Property Tax Exemption
These states offer partial or full property tax exemption to non-disabled veterans and service members. Take advantage of them to lower your expenses.
California
Yes. Limited to up to $5,000 if not married and $10,000 if married.
Iowa
Yes. Up to $4,000.
New Hampshire
Yes. Wartime veterans are exempt $51-$750.
New Mexico
Yes. Gets up to $4,000 exemption.
New York
Yes. Must have served during wartime (including the Cold War) or receive an expeditionary medal. Available in 95% of the counties.
Rhode Island
Yes. Exemptions are not based on disability but on war-time service. The exemptions are also based on the town you live in.
Utah
Yes. Active or Reserve veterans get full exemption.
Washington
Yes. You also get the exemption if you are not disabled and at least 61 years old.
Wyoming
Yes. Partial. Honorably discharged veterans of WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, or honorably discharged veteran who was awarded the armed forces expeditionary medal or other authorized service or campaign medal indicating service for the United States in any armed conflict in a foreign country (Qualified Medals); surviving spouses of qualifying veterans
